Professional Pathways
This programme offers the unique experience for undergraduates, graduates and emerging dance artists to embed themselves within our company during the creation of a new project. Participants join in daily company class, take part in rehearsals and learn repertoire that the company is devising or remounting. This creates the opportunity for young dancers to understudy a role and be mentored by the dancer whose role they are learning.
Dancers interested will need to write a letter of interest to Rehearsal Director, Edd Mitton. The minimum amount of time is one week and the maximum is two weeks and artists need to be present every day for the time they have chosen to be there.
Apprenticeships
As part of our Professional Pathways programme, YDP offers graduates who are specifically interested in YDP’s diverse repertoire the opportunity to work as a company apprentice while we are rehearsing a new programme. Apprentices are paid a fee and if the opportunity to perform arises they will be paid a performance fee.
Youth Leaders
Youth Leaders has established itself as a unique professional development programme for leaders working with youth in the dance field. The programme supports leaders who, due to their location, often work in isolation from one another and from the professional dance community. Youth Leaders are welcomed into the company and our daily practice. This includes taking company class, learning and devising repertoire and covering company dancers’ roles when necessary. This offers new skills for developing their own arts practice which they then draw on when working with the young dancers in their own communities. Through this process, the leaders also make vital contact with other artists working in their field, creating a supportive network of youth dance leaders throughout the country.
To apply for our Professional Pathway, Apprenticeship or Youth Leader programmes please contact Edd Mitton, Rehearsal Director.
